An artist-run small press, Subatomic Books is steaming fresh from the oven, a pastry cooked in the 21st century with 21st century ideas for cream filling. We believe that by pursuing a low-overhead business model and keeping costs low, we will be able to publish books that larger presses can’t fit into their rigid marketing categories. And we’re so sure that our authors are generating good stuff that we’ll give it away for free on the web. The first taste is free, goes the marketing slogan (please don’t ask where we picked that up), and heck, so is the second... and you can buy the books if you want a paper version to read by the fire. It’s all part of our master plan: build the brand (in this case, the press and the authors) and let you, the readership, drive the sales. We use the MAMA content delivery system, which is frickin’ sweet, we must say. Subatomic Books can therefore frolic in the fields of speculative fiction, weird fiction, fringe fiction, Bizzaro fiction, counterculture fiction, or even the more well trod ground of science fiction and fantasy.
